A trip to the English Theatre in Frankfurt

On Wednesday the 15th April form 6c went to the English Theatre in Frankfurt with Mrs Möller and Mrs Madl.

When we arrived at the theater we first went into the bar and met Lea, our tour guide. She explained to us what we would do on this day. She told us, that she would show us the theatre first and that we would split afterwards. During the theatre visit she showed us the backstage and the big theatre hall. Then we went back to the bar and split into two groups. The first group with Mrs Möller, went with Lea and the second group with Mrs Madl, went with Keith, the other tour guide. I was in the group with Mrs Madl and Keith. We went together to the old theatre. There we left our bags on the seats and went up to the stage. We stood in a circle around Keith and Mrs Madl made herself comfortable on the audience seats, ready to take a photo. First we introduced ourselves. Of course in English! Then he taught us how to speak with the tummy. It was really exciting! Next he split us into four groups. Group one should pretend to be ‘angry’, group two ‘cool’, group three ‘sad’ and group four ‘happy’. Every corner on the stage was one of the four different emotion corners. Every group had to think about a sentence that they can use. One by one the groups changed the corners, so that each group stood in every corner and had to say their sentence in the emotion in this corner. Then, during a short break, Keith put some requisites on the stage. Everybody should choose one of them and make up a story including the ‘thing’. Keith explained to us, that every story should have a beginning, a middle with a conflict and an end. Then he asked us which of the requisites we chose. According to this he split us into three new groups once more. Everybody in each group should say at least two sentences in English. In the story the pupils in each group had to use their chosen requisite.

Here are the stories we made up:

  1. Two girls wanted to buy a red coat in a shop. They bought it and went outside the shop. Then the king and his advisor came and the king wanted to have the coat too. So the advisor chased the girls away and they dropped the coat. Now the king got the coat for himself!
  2. In a restaurant a guest got a banana from the waiter. But the guest hated bananas and complained. The waiter struck the guest dead with the plate. The restaurant manager called the police. The police came together with their police monkey, that ate the banana at once. The police took the waiter to the jail.
  3. Three guests (two men and a woman) visited a restaurant. They ordered a pancake. The cook thought, it would be the best pancake ever and said so to the waiter, to serve the pancake to the guests. The guests complained and wanted to speak to the cook. The cook came and struck angrily a man with a pan dead. The girlfriend of the dead man took her shoe with high heel to strike the cook dead, but instead she hit another guest. The waiter called the police and the cook and the guest who was still alive ran away.

After this we said thank you and goodbye to Keith and went outside the old theater to wait for the other group.

The day was great. It was funny to act in a real theatre. The English they spoke was easy to understand. We enjoyed the trip very much! Thank you for the nice day!
